Crazy Celtic Compass, AKA,
The Million Dollar Quilt.
We’ve all done a MDQ. You know the ones; where you keep buying and buying fabrics, ribbons, buttons, etc. to go in the quilt. This is one of those. Fortunately, this quilt won a ribbon and the prize money may have been a tad more than was spent creating it. It was a challenge quilt for the Minnesota quilt show.
Sorry, this is one of a kind, no pattern is available for it.
A flannel version of Square Dancing as shown in the May 2008 issue of McCall’s Quick Quilts.
About Irish Chain
The Irish Chain pattern company was started in 2003 by Sandi Irish. I have been quilting for over 23 years, teaching and working in a quilt shop as well as designing quilts for companies like Timeless Treasures Fabrics and doing other commissioned works. Since I’ve always preferred to create my own designs or adapt traditional quilts to my own style, starting a pattern company was a natural step to take.
Irish Chain patterns are easy enough for beginners but also give more advanced quilters a chance to sharpen piecing skills, play with color and just have fun. All the patterns are rotary cut and machine pieced.
Look for the new Quilted Jewels Pattern Series on the pattern page. These patterns use the Quilted Jewel templates which create multiple patterns with 60 degree angles, all WITHOUT set in seams! The template set is sold with complete directions for cutting and the multi-sized pattern for the I-Spy Diamonds quilt (baby to twin size). The Quilted Jewel Series will continue with a pine tree wallhangings, table toppers and more.
I consider myself very blessed to have the opportunity to have a career where I can “take pleasure in all my toil” (Ecclesiastes 3:13), to be able to teach others and to share the talents God has given me.
